Basic knowledge of stamping die terminology

1, roll edge

Flanging is a stamping process that rolls the edge of working parts into a closed circle. The axis of the curling circle is straight.

2, coiling edge

Rolling edge is a stamping process that rolls the upper edge of the hollow part into a closed circle.

3, drawing

Drawing is a kind of stamping process that changes the flat blank or working procedure into curved surface, which is mainly formed by the extension of the material at the bottom of the punch.

4, stretch bending

Tension bending is a stamping process which can realize bending deformation under the action of tension and bending moment, and make the whole bending cross section subject to tensile stress.

5. Bulging

Bulging is a stamping process in which hollow or tubular parts are extended along the diameter. Sectioning is a stamping process which divides the forming process into several parts.

6, school level

Leveling is a stamping process to improve the flatness of local or integral plane parts.

7. Undulate forming

It is a stamping process that relies on the extension of materials to form local depression or bulge of process parts. The change of material thickness in rolling forming is non intentional, that is to say, a small amount of change of thickness is naturally formed in the process of deformation, not the requirements specified in the design.

8, bending

Bending is a stamping process which uses pressure to produce plastic deformation of materials and then be bent into a shape with certain curvature and angle.

9. Chisel cutting

Chiseling is a blanking or punching process using a chiseling die with a sharp edge. There is no lower die for chiseling, only a flat plate is placed under the material, and most of the material to be punched is non-metal.

10. Deep hole punching

Deep hole punching is a punching process when the hole diameter is equal to or less than the thickness of the material to be punched.

11. Blanking

Blanking is a stamping process that separates materials along the closed contour. The separated materials become workpieces or workpieces, most of which are plane shaped.

12, necking

Necking is a stamping process that pressurizes the open part of hollow or tubular parts to reduce them.

13, plastic surgery

Shaping is a stamping process which depends on the flow of materials and changes the shape and size of working parts to ensure the accuracy of the workpiece.

14, renovate

Trimming is a stamping process in which a small amount of material is cut along the contour or internal contour to improve the edge finish and verticality. In general, the renovation process also improves the dimensional accuracy.

15. Turning holes

Turning over is a stamping process that turns the material into side flange around the inner hole.

16. Flanging

Flanging is a stamping process in which the material is turned into a short side along the contour curve.

17, deep drawing

Drawing is a kind of stamping process that changes the flat blank or working part into a hollow part, or further changes the shape and size of the hollow part. In deep drawing, the core is mainly formed by the material outside the bottom of the punch flowing into the die.

18. Continuous drawing

Continuous drawing is a kind of stamping method that uses the same die (continuous drawing die) to form the required shape and size through multiple drawing on the strip (roll).

19. Thinning and drawing

Thinning drawing is a drawing process in which the hollow working parts are further changed in shape and size and the sidewalls are intentionally thinned.

20. Reverse drawing

Reverse drawing is a kind of drawing process in which the inner wall of hollow process piece is turned out.

21. Differential temperature drawing

Differential temperature drawing is a drawing process which uses heating and cooling means to make the temperature of the part to be deformed much higher than that of the part to be deformed, so as to improve the deformation degree.

22. Hydraulic drawing

Hydraulic drawing is a drawing process that uses the liquid contained in the rigid or flexible container to replace the punch or die to form a hollow part.

23. Press bar

The pressing bar is a kind of rolling forming. When the local undulation occurs in the form of reinforcement, the corresponding undulation forming process is called pressing reinforcement.
